Cooking Up A Storm!

FASTSIGNS York partners with local professional chef to brand her latest venture.

Having travelled the world cooking for F1 teams, royalty and VIPs alike, highly-acclaimed professional chef Ali Bilton has returned to the Yorkshire Wolds and established Ali Bilton Cooks.

From her state-of-the-art kitchen in the heart of the vibrant market town of Pocklington, Ali creates restaurant-standard frozen ready meals from locally-sourced produce and delivers them direct to customers’ doors!

Click & Collect

Ali first approached FASTSIGNS York for assistance with signage for her Click & Collect service which really took off at the heart of the pandemic.

Already having some signage, we were able to repurpose the brushed aluminum substrate and add a new design which incorporated the new typeface.

Van Graphics

Next, came the graphics for the new, all-electric delivery van. This body of work was extremely important as the van would be seen across the area, making it a key marketing tool as well a delivery vehicle.

Working closely with Ali and her team, FASTSIGNS York started the initial drafts of the van graphics. A key element which needed to be tested and agreed upon was the print reproduction of the Ali Bilton Cooks main brand colour – Mohair Mauve. In fact, Ali was so pleased with the colour-match achieved by FASTSIGNS that she used a printed swatch we created for her, so the paint for the premises could be mixed to match it!

Building Signage

As the lockdowns eased and in-person events gradually started to happen again, Ali and her team began finalising the development of their event space in the new premises in Pocklington.

Formerly a coaching inn known as The Old Red Lion, the premises required a significant amount of updating. Ali and her partner Robert have been able to carry out the remodelling in such a way as to meet their exacting requirements while complementing the building’s historical nature. They have created a contemporary and highly-attractive space which perfectly reflects the Ali Bilton Cooks brand. FASTSIGNS York was tasked with further enhancing this space by designing and creating a number of signs.

For the main fascia, in the archway opening, we fabricated an acrylic sign with the Ali Bilton Cooks signature logo cut from high-performance sign vinyl and adhered to the rear of the panel. This panel was then mounted on brushed aluminum standoff fixings to complete the high-end look and feel of the signage.

For the opening times and contact details, we again used standoff fixings but this time to mount an aluminum composite panel. We chose this substrate to offer increased rigidity as the opening times were to be placed on a door.

Events & Display Signage

In true ‘FAST’SIGNS style, we were delighted to be able to help Ali and her team pull together promotional materials to make the most of their appearance at a last-minute food exhibition! Indeed, we designed and made a roller banner overnight to achieve this!

And to enhance visibility at outdoor markets and festivals, we have created a number of flags and swing signs showcasing the Ali Bilton Cooks brand.

We are now working with Ali and her Team to brand their ever-developing retail area – wrapping freezers and adding clear directional signage to their premises in Pocklington.
