1. DATA WE COLLECT

Events/Webinar Information

We collect information submitted to us regarding your participation in any events or webinars we offer.

We have a legitimate interest in facilitating your attendance at our events. In some instances, we use this information to fulfill our contractual obligation with you to register you for our events.

Feedback/Support

If you provide us feedback or contact us for support, we will collect your name and email address, as well as any other content that you send to us, in order to reply.

Mailing List

When you sign up for one of our mailing lists, we collect your email address or postal address.

We maintain accounts with various social media networks. When you visit these social media networks, a variety of data processing operations are triggered. We use your personal data when you visit our profiles on these social media networks, or when you click on the like button on one of our social media advertisements. When you visit our profiles, your personal data is not only used by us but also by the social network provider, regardless of whether you have a profile in the social network or not. Website interactions

We use technology to monitor how you interact with our website. This may include which links you click on, or information that you type into our online forms. This may also include information about your device or browser.

We have a legitimate interest in understanding how you interact with our website to better improve it, and to understand your preferences and interests in order to select offerings that you might find most useful. We also have a legitimate interest in detecting and preventing fraud.

Web logs

We collect information, including your browser type, operating system, Internet Protocol (IP) address (a number that is automatically assigned to a computer when the Internet is used), domain name, click-activity, referring website, and/or a date/time stamp for visitors.

We have a legitimate interest in monitoring our networks and the visitors to our websites including for security purposes. It also helps us understand which of our services is the most popular.

2. HOW WE USE YOUR DATA

In addition to the uses described above, we may also use your data in the following ways:

  1. Respond to Requests. We may process your personal data when you contact us, such as with questions, concerns, feedback, disputes, or issues, to respond to your request or provide the information requested by you. Without your personal data, we cannot respond to you or ensure your continued use and enjoyment of our Site.

  2. Ensure the Security of the Service. We are committed to ensuring your safety and continued enjoyment of our Site. To do so, we may process your personal data to help monitor, prevent, and detect fraud, enhance security, monitor and verify identity or access, and combat spam or other malware or security risks.

  3. Facilitate and Evaluate Use of the Online Properties.   6. Conferences and Events. FASTSIGNS may use personal data to communicate with you about our events or our partner events. After the event, FASTSIGNS may contact you about the event and related products and services and may share information about your attendance with your company and our conference sponsors and partners, who act as independent controllers. If a partner or conference sponsor directly requests your personal data at their conference booths or presentations, your personal data will be handled in accordance with their privacy practices. 3. DISCLOSURE OF YOUR PERSONAL DATA

4. SECURITY SAFEGUARDS

We follow and require our service providers to maintain appropriate procedural and technological measures, consistent with industry practice that is reasonably designed to protect your personal data from loss, unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. We utilise industry-standard SSL technology to allow for the encryption of all franchisee applications submitted on a FASTSIGNS website. However, since no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, we cannot guarantee that loss, misuse, unauthorised acquisition, or alteration of your data will not occur. Please recognise that you play a vital role in protecting your personal data.

Furthermore, we cannot ensure or warrant the security or confidentiality of the information you transmit to us or receive from us by Internet or wireless connection, including email, phone, or SMS, since we have no way of protecting that information once it leaves and until it reaches us. If you have reason to believe that your data is no longer secure, please contact us at the email address or mailing address listed at the top of this Privacy Notice. In the event that we are required by law to inform you of a breach to your personal data, we may notify you electronically, in writing, or by telephone, if permitted to do so by law.

5. RETENTION

We limit our retention of your personal data to as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Notice, but will not retain this information for a period longer than ten (10) years. We will retain and use your personal data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, if we are required to retain your data to comply with applicable laws), resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies.   • The email address for marketing purposes is retained on an ongoing basis until you unsubscribe.

  • Data collected via technical means such as cookies, web page counters, and other analytics tools is kept for a period of up to one year from the expiration of the cookie.

6. INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS OF PERSONAL DATA

As a global organisation, we may transfer your personal data to countries outside the United Kingdom. When we transfer your personal data to countries outside the United Kingdom, including when we share your information with FASTSIGNS UK offices, where required by law, we will ensure that at least one of the following appropriate guarantees have been implemented:

  • Transfer is to countries which, according to the United Kingdom’s Information Commissioner’s Office, offer an adequate level of protection to personal data (so-called “adequacy decision”).

  • We use specific contracts, approved by the Information Commissioner’s Office (e.g., the International Data Transfer Agreement or Standard Contractual Clauses), which ensure the same protection to personal data as granted in the United Kingdom; or

  • We use other appropriate solutions to address cross-border transfers as required or permitted by Articles 46 and 49 of the UK GDPR, or the corresponding provisions under the UK Data Protection Act of 2018.

Our Services may include links, or introductions, to third party services. The use of these third-party services may result in the collection and sharing of information about you by these third party services. This Privacy Notice does not address the data processing practices of any third-party, unless as specified otherwise. Please note, the inclusion of a link on any of our Services to a third-party’s service does not imply endorsement of the third-party’s data handling practices and does not imply that the third-party’s practices are covered by this Privacy Notice. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these entities.

We encourage you to be aware when you leave our Services and to read the privacy statements or notices of each website or app on which you land after you click on a link or social networking button.

8. YOUR RIGHTS IN RELATION TO YOUR DATA

We take reasonable steps to ensure that your personal data is accurate, complete, and up to date. You have the right to request:

We will respond to your request in a reasonable timeframe and in accordance with applicable law. To protect the privacy and the security of your personal data, we may request information from you to enable us to confirm your identity and right to access such information, as well as to search for and provide you with the personal data we maintain. There are instances where applicable laws or regulatory requirements allow or require us to refuse to provide or delete some or all of the personal data that you have asked to be provided or deleted.

We will only contact individuals by electronic means (including email or SMS) based on our legitimate interests, as permitted by applicable law, or the individual’s consent. You can object to direct marketing at any time and free of charge.

You have a right not to be subject to decision making based solely on automated processing that has a legal impact on you.

9. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Our Services are not intended for anyone under the age of 16 (“children”). We do not target or knowingly collect personal data from children. FASTSIGNS recognises the privacy interests of children, and we encourage parents and guardians to take an active role in their children's online activities and interests. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child without verification of parental consent, we will take steps to remove that information from our servers.

10. DO NOT TRACK DISCLOSURES

“Do Not Track” is a privacy preference that users can set in their web browsers. When a user turns on a Do Not Track signal in their browser, the browser sends a message to websites requesting that they do not track the user. For information about Do Not Track, please visit www.allaboutdnt.org. At this time, we do not respond to Do Not Track browser settings or signals. In addition, we use other technology that is standard to the internet, such as pixel tags, web beacons, and other similar technologies, to track visitors to the website. Those tools may be used by us and by third parties to collect information about you and your internet activity, even if you have turned on the Do Not Track signal.
