Local signage centre, FASTSIGNS® Portsmouth, has been rewarded for its work with Naval Families Federation, a charity enterprise that supports Royal Navy and Royal Marines families across the world, based on the HMS Excellent.
The visual solutions provider, which is part of the FASTSIGNS UK franchise network, came runner up for the Project of the Year Award at this year’s FASTSIGNS UK convention and awards ceremony, which took place at Staffordshire’s St George’s Park.
The team, who work out of Admiral Park, Airport Service Road, was up against 25 other signmakers from across the country for the category, which recognised work that was high value, unusual or challenging.
Each year, the global signage and visual communications specialist’s annual convention recognises the franchise network’s successes over the past 12 months. It brings the FASTSIGNS UK teams and suppliers together to help share industry knowledge, culminating in a grand gala dinner after the two - day convention.
Testing the designing, printing and wrapping capabilities of the team, FASTSIGNS® Portsmouth were challenging with providing the signage for use at Navy and Marine social gatherings for family welfare. Not only were they tasked with wrapping a box trailer, the project also demanded that signage was vibrant and engaging, as well as in-keeping with historical projects, so that it would appeal to children.
Glenn Turnbull, owner of FASTSIGNS® Portsmouth celebrated the success of the centre:
“This project really tested the full range of our skillset, and we were delighted with the outcome. It was a real honour to work for an organisation that’s doing such good for the local community, and is a real part of the area’s naval heritage.
“This is key to us, as a centre. We love to connect with grassroots organisations around us and help them to thrive. To be recognised for doing just that is excellent, and will see us enter into 2022 with confidence.”
Speaking after the awards evening, John Davies, managing director at FASTSIGNS UK said:
“The determination of our team never fails to impress me. After navigating the difficulties of Covid-19, every franchise has emerged stronger than ever. They’ve been there as industries have reopened again, helping them to realise lots of exciting marketing projects.
“The sheer size of the naval project the Portsmouth team completed required excellent project management skills, and the ability to keep a number of different plates spinning whilst on a tight deadline. Despite the turbulence that the pandemic has brought, we’ve been blown away by what our centres have achieved. Portsmouth’s Naval Families Federation project was a prime example of this, and the team have once again shown their ability to go above and beyond for their clients.”
FASTSIGNS® Portsmouth launched in 2019, and offers a wide range of signage solutions, including large-format graphics, vehicle car wrapping and illuminated signs.
