The evolution of the Marriott’s signs
When we first began working with Leeds Marriott Hotel in the mid-90s, we were focused on traditional signage, like classic brass plaques and straightforward directional signs. This was just the beginning of our journey and as the years progressed, so did the signage. Since then, we've embraced new technologies and techniques, always keeping up with the hotel's evolving brand.
One of the standout projects has been rebranding the hotel's bar and restaurant. Originally known as 1871 and Mid Town Grill, we helped transform the space into the Cast Iron Bar & Grill. The Marriott wanted to move away from a traditional hotel bar and restaurant and attract new passing traffic from busy Boar Lane. Our team created a new identity with a stylish, industrial-chic design. We used rusted steel and metallic materials to craft a look that was both modern and respectful of the building's rich history.
More recently, when the restaurant became the Italian restaurant Gino D'Acampo, we helped with the transition by creating a striking window graphic near the Trevelyan Square entrance to advertise the new restaurant. This helped ensure that both hotel guests and people passing by were aware of the exciting new dining option.
Enhancing the guest experience
We know that great signage is about more than just looking good. It's also about improving operations and enhancing the guest experience. Here's how we've made a difference:
Directional signs: We've made navigating the hotel easier, guiding guests easily through all areas.
Health and safety signs: Essential information is clearly displayed, meeting regulatory requirements without compromising on style.

Custom graphics: We've created a welcoming atmosphere that makes a lasting first impression.
One project we're particularly proud of was creating vibrant back-of-house graphics. Although not visible to guests, these graphics have transformed staff areas into engaging spaces, helping to boost team morale and foster a sense of community.
We’ve also implemented several KPI whiteboards for the back-of-house offices. These are valuable tools for the management team, providing a way to visualise and monitor their progress towards business objectives.
